COWICHAN – Canadian international #
Sean Duke# scored a last-gasp try to lift the UVic Vikes men's rugby team to a 34-27 win over the Cowichan Piggies on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikes erased a two-try deficit in the dying minutes en route to posting their first win of the 2010 fall campaign. The win moves the Vikes to 1-1 on the season.
Unlike their last meeting where the Vikes pummeled Cowichan 78-32, the Piggies led for much of the match on Saturday, chasing down UVic's top speedsters.
“Cowichan has improved and credit to them for chasing down our breaks,” Vikes head coach #Doug Tate# said. “We had tons of line breaks that didn't materialize. It was very frustrating for us.”
The Vikes return to Wallace Field next weekend to host Oak Bay's Castaway Wanderers. Kickoff on Saturday, October 2nd is scheduled for 2:45pm.
