GAME INFORMATION
Sat. Oct. 2 vs. Castaway Wanderers (Wallace Field) – 2:45pm
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Castaway-Wanders have registered just one victory in their last six visits to the UVic Campus, with their most recent win dating back to March of 2008. In a testament to the Island's rugby parity, last fall the Vikes squeezed their Oak Bay rivals out of the postseason by a single point.
SCOUTING THE VIKES (1-1)
Canadian international #
Sean Duke# scored the go-ahead try against Cowichan last weekend to secure the team's first win of the 2010 campaign. The students now return to Wallace Field without their leading scorers #
Phil Mack# (22) and Duke (10) who have departed for the Commonwealth Games. The Vikes will rely on their speedsters out wide with internationals #
Bryn Keys# and #
Tony LaCarte# both in action. Also making his presence felt in the young season is South-African born winger #Willem du Plessis#, who scored two tries against the Piggies.
SCOUTING THE CASTAWAY-WANDERERS (1-2)
The Castaway-Wanderers went head-to-head with the reigning Vancouver Island champs James Bay last Saturday and came out on the losing end of a 42-17 decision. The Oak Bay roster will be without sevens stars Ciaran Hearn and Nanyak Dala who are en route to Delhi. Bolstering the back line with his tactical kicking is Canadian fly half Ander Monro who notched seven points last weekend.
