Renfrew, Yeboah each net 15 points in loss at Winnipeg

JAN. 14, 2011 - The University of Victoria Vikes struggled in the second half, falling 86-65 to the Winnipeg Wesmen in Winnipeg on Friday Jan. 14.

With the loss, the No. 8 nationally ranked Vikes fall to 11-4 while the Wesmen women improve to 11-2.

Rookie forward #Jessica Renfrew# of Victoria, B.C., and Vikes veteran guard and Winnipeg native #Deborah Yeboah# led the Vikes with 15 points each. #Carmen Lapthorne# added 14 poitns for UVic in the loss.

Caitlin Gooch led the Wesmen with a game-high 20 points.

The teams square off again on Saturday Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. PST. The Vikes next home game is on Friday Jan. 21 when they host Lethbridge at 6 p.m. at McKinnon Gymnasium.

The Vikes led several times in the first half, but the host Wesmen went on an 18-7 run to close out the frame and lead 38-29 at the break.

UVic got back within one point late in the third quarter, but again Winnipeg's depth helped them out of danger.
