Yeboah shines again with game-high 19 points in loss to Wesmen

The Winnipeg Wesmen used a strong finish for the second straight night to defeat the University of Victoria Vikes women's basketball team 62-53 in Winnipeg.

With the road loss, the Vikes fall to 11-5 while the Wesmen improve to 12-2 and are 7-0 at home this season.

Vikes veteran guard #Deborah Yeboah#, a Winnipeg native, led UVic with a game-high 19 points. Freshman forward #Jessica Renfrew# of Victoria added 10 points.

Vikes forward #Sarah Semeniuk# added a game-high 15 rebounds. Caitlin Gooch led Winnipeg in scoring for the second straight night with a team-high 13 points.

Winnipeg led 20-16 after the opening quarter and continued to lead 31-28 at the half. But the Vikes came out hot in the third quarter, scoring six of the first eight points of the second half to take a 34-33 lead four minutes in. The game was tied 40-40 after three quarters.

In the fourth, the Wesmen took control for good when Ashleigh Chichlowski drained back-to-back three-pointers to extend Winnipeg's lead to 59-48 and put the game under reach with three minutes remaining.

The No. 8 nationally ranked Vikes return home to host the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. at McKinnon Gymnasium.
