Yeboah shines in home province as Vikes clinch playoff spot, win fourth straight

Junior point guard #Debbie Yeboah# recorded a game-high 24 points, along with three steals and seven rebounds, as the University of Victoria Vikes women's basketball team completed their weekend sweep of the Brandon Bobcats with an 84-29 victory on Saturday Jan. 29 in Brandon, Man.

The win, which clinches a playoff spot for the Vikes women, is the fourth straight for UVic. They improve to 15-5 on the season and will travel to play Thompson Rivers University (7-13, 9th in Canada West) in Kamloops, B.C., next weekend, Feb. 4-5.

The Vikes defence was stifling, holding Brandon scoreless in the third quarter and to just 20 points through three quarters.

For the second straight night, #Carmen Lapthorne# was very effective for the Vikes with 22 points, while #Sarah Semeniuk# recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. #Cassandra Goodis# added 14 points and five steals in the win.

Kelsey Solarchuk led Brandon with 10 points and five rebounds.
