VICTORIA, B.C. – In their final regular season games of the year the University of Victoria Vikes men's soccer team will host the Mount Royal University Cougars and the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Oct. 26 – 27 at Centennial Stadium.

The UVic men currently sit in third place in the Canada West Pacific division with 17 points while in the Prairie division Mount Royal is in fifth and Winnipeg in sixth, with 13 and six points respectively. The Vikes have had a somewhat unfavourable road record this year, losing five of their seven away games but they post considerably better results at home, going 5-0.
 
In their inaugural season in the CIS, the Mount Royal Cougars have gone 4-8-1, winning two games against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns and as a result of an eligibility issue, gaining two wins in forfeiture off of the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. This is also the first year in the CIS for the Wesmen and with a record of 1-9-3 in the Prairie division, the Wesmen are sure to be on the hunt for another victory before the close of the season.
 
In the playoff race, two victories this weekend for the Vikes will solidify their position in the standings and put some distance between the UVic men and their mainland rivals the Fraser Valley Cascades. A strong performance from veteran backstop Elliot Mitrou (Victoria, B.C.) and consistent two-way play from graduating midfielder David Adams (Surrey, B.C.) will be key as the Vikes look to close out the regular season on a high note. The Vikes have two top scorers in Craig Gorman (Victoria, B.C.) and Craig Taylor (Victoria, B.C.), however Gorman along with speedy midfielder Craig Taylor (Victoria, B.C.) and defender Gavin Barrett (Richmond, B.C.) will not be dressing for this weekend's games.
 
Making the most impact for the Cougars this season is striker Cody Cook, leading the team with two goals and two assists while midfielder Mohammed Hasoon has been a key contributor in the centre of the pitch. For the Wesmen, Richard Rundell has tallied five times and tops the team in goals scored while Oleg Andrushchyshyn posts the most assists.
 
The game between the University of Victoria Vikes and the Mount Royal Cougars kicks off at 7 p.m. at Centennial Stadium on Oct. 26. The following night on Oct. 27 the Vikes play again, this time taking on the University of Winnipeg Wesmen at 7 p.m., in Centennial Stadium.
