VICTORIA  - The University of Victoria Vikes men's rugby will return to Wallace Field Oct. 19 to face Capilanos in their second CDI Premier League match of the season.  After a scheduled weekend off, the Vikes will be looking to continue the momentum developed through Barnard Cup series victories over James Bay AA, Castaway Wanderers and Velox and their CDI home opener that saw them outscoring Meralomas by a 43-13 margin.

Head coach Doug Tate will field a similar Vikes roster as his squad continues to deal with injuries to numerous players, such as Nathan Hirayama, who will be out for the foreseeable future with a leg injury. This season has seen the Vikes spread our their high-scoring offensive among several players, such as fourth-year Jamie MacKenzie, Dan Hrycyk, and Fergus Hall. The Vikes Oct. 5 match against Meralomas saw seven different players registering points in the lopsided victory.

"Our forward pack has been good this season," says Vikes head coach Doug Tate. "We've been more physical and better defensively. We'll find out what kind of team we are this weekend though, Capilanos are a good team."

This weekend's match will see the 4-0 Vikes face a 2-2 squad that lost their most recent match against Castaway Wanderers by an 18-15 margin. The West Vancouver-based team has seen their two victories of the season come against Meralomas, one of them by default.

Kick-off at Wallace Field has been changed to an earlier time of Oct. 19 at 1:00 p.m from the previous start time of 2:45 p.m.
