VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes men's soccer team hit the road for their final pair of conference games against the UNBC Timberwolves on Oct. 26 and 27 in Prince George, B.C. The Vikes are currently 8-3-1 with a Canada West Final Six berth already clinched, while the Timberwolves are 2-7-3 and out of playoff contention.

The Vikes enter this weekend after a pair of victories at home over Lethbridge and Calgary. It was also the final home games for seniors Gavin Barrett, Bobby Eng, Andrew Ravenhill, Alex Redpath and Elliot Mitrou, who were all members of the 2011 CIS championship-winning squad.
 
The Vikes ousted the Pronghorns in Friday night action by a 4-0 margin. Cameron Stokes continued his scoring frenzy tallying his eighth goal of the season, while Gorman picked up his fifth. The Vikes rolled through nearly their entire bench to rest up their regulars for their Saturday face off with the Dinos.
 
The Dinos took the 1-0 lead entering the half-time break but Cam Hundal spearheaded the Vikes to a 4-1 victory scoring three goals including the tying and game-winning goals. Stokes also tallied in the match to put Hundal at eight season goals, one behind leader Stokes. Stokes is currently tied with UBC's Milad Mehrabi for the Canada West goal scoring lead, while Hundal is in third.
 
UNBC is coming off a weekend that saw them lose 3-0 to the Trinity Western Spartans on Friday despite a good performance from keeper Tyrone Venhola who made 11 saves on 14 shots faced. The Timberwolves bounced back to gain a point from the Spartans on Saturday holding them to a 1-1 draw. Cheona Edzerza was the goal scorer. Tofa Fakunle leads the team with two goals and two assists.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE

With a pair of wins this weekend the Vikes will stay on track for second place in the Pacific Division with a likely crossover match with the Dinos on the Nov. 1-2 Canada West Final Six weekend.  UBC has already clinched the division title and hosting rights for the Final Six, while Saskatchewan, Alberta and Calgary duke it out for top-seed in the Prairie Division.
 
The first round of the playoffs is a cross over between the second and third-place seeds in the Pacific and Prairie Divisions, while the first-place seeds receive a bye directly into the semifinal.
