Several unforced errors by the Vikes ended up coming back to haunt them as they suffered their second loss of the season to the Vancouver Rowing Club, Saturday, Nov. 2 in Vancouver, B.C.  With the loss, the Vikes drop to 2-2 in their CDI Premier League season after opening the year with back-to-back wins.

Despite the loss, the Vikes picked up a valuable bonus point, awarded to teams that despite losing, finish within seven points of the winner. The extra point gives the Vikes 13 on the season and positions them at fourth place in the league, one point up on the Vancouver Rowers. Burnaby Lake Rugby Club currently sit atop the league with three wins, one loss and 15 points.
 
"We defended well but we just didn't finish on any of our breaks," said head coach Doug Tate. "It was disappointing because we spent a lot of time in their end."
 
The Vikes went up 8-0 early in the game off a penalty kick from Fergus Hall and a James Pitblado try before succumbing to the young Rowers offense. Through the remainder of the game the Vikes could not capitalize on their opportunities, converting just one additional penalty kick by Hall through the remainder of the match.
 
The Vikes return home to Wallace Field for their next match, Nov. 9 against UBC Thunderbirds. It will be the first of the annual two-game Boot Leg series, played between the two schools since 1970. UVic has captured the Wightman's Boot trophy 16 times straight.
