Vikes to play final game of 2012-13 BCRU season

Apr. 20: UVic Vikes men’s rugby @ James Bay AA, 2:45 p.m. (Victoria, B.C.)

VICTORIA, B.C. – The University of Victoria Vikes men's rugby team will play their final game of the 2012-13 Premier league season against perennial rivals James Bay AA at MacDonald Park.

FULL SCHEDULE / FULL ROSTER

Despite missing out on the playoffs this year, the Vikes have one last chance to complicate things for their cross-town competition. If the Vikes take the win from James Bay they will force their opposition to travel to Vancouver next weekend for the first round of playoffs to face off against Capilano RFC.

Additionally, the Vikes will have a chance at wining the Ian Stewart Cup, an annual competition between the UVic men and James Bay AA, decided by accumulated points. As it stands, the Vikes are the underdogs going into Saturday's match with James Bay posting two wins in the two teams' previous encounters.

With several members of the squad unavailable due to school and work commitments, the Vikes will face a challenging 80 minutes of rugby. However, the UVic squad boasts veterans such as Remi Anctil in the lineup alongside sevens standout Phil Mack and sophomore flyhalf Patrick Kay, they are certainly not out of an opportunity to best the home side. Additionally, rookie Fergus Hall will make an appearance on the back line with wingers Beau Parker and Luke McCloskey.

The Vikes kick off against James Bay AA at 2:45 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 20, at MacDonald Park.
