Knowing that their post-season was on the line, the Vikes came out hard in the first half of play to take the lead 27-5 at halftime. With tries by
Dustin Dobravsky,
Patrick Kay and two by
Luke McCloskey, the Lomas struggled to gain possession and get on the board.
Just after the break, it was McCloskey that notched another try to earn himself a hat trick and put the Vikes up by another five. The Lomas finally responded as a series of scrums deep in the Vikes' defensive end saw the visiting side push the ball across the line.
Credit to the Lomas as they fought to make it back from their 22-point deficit and in a show of strength they once again pushed the ball across the line to make it 32-17.
A successful penalty kick by Kay saw the Vikes earn another three but it was quickly answered by another Lomas try.
The Vikes were quick to capitalize on a turnover and with a series of offloads saw rookie
Luke Campbell cross the line to add another five points to the scoreboard.
With the final score at 40-27, the Vikes are now one step closer to finding themselves in the league's top four as they continue their hunt for the playoffs next weekend against the No. 3 Capilano RFC.
