VICTORIA - The University of Victoria Vikes men's rugby squad is set to face the Velox Vahalians in their final game of the Barnard Cup series. Following their 28-17 home-opener victory over James Bay Athletic Association and a decisive 45-10 romping of rivals Castaway Wanderers last weekend, the Vikes will look to remain undefeated in the series. A victory ensures home field advantage for the Barnard Cup finals, taking place on Nov. 30.

"Velox is physical. They have got some big, physical players," said head coach Doug Tate. "They haven't been embarrassed in any of their losses so this will be a big game for us."
The Vikes have outscored their opponents 73-27 through the last two games and will be looking to maintain their high-scoring pace this weekend. Fourth-year Vike
Jamie MacKenzie was the best player on the field during Saturday's match against the Wanderers, making several timely tackles and adding a try. Rookie
Guiseppe du Toit was also impressive in his Vikes debut Saturday, scoring six conversions and adding a penalty kick. Saturday will also mark the return of several players previously competing with Team B.C., adding a physical dimension to the UVic side.
The Velox Vahalians have dropped their previous two matches in the Barnard Cup series, falling 36-27 in their series opener against the Wanderers before losing last weekend, 32-22 to James Bay AA.
The Vikes kick off Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2:45pm at Velox Rugby Club.
