VICTORIA, B.C. — The University of Victoria Vikes men's rugby team came away with a gritty win of 21-15 against Capilano RFC on Nov. 8. The two teams met at Klahanie Park in West Vancouver, B.C.
Despite a slow beginning for the Vikes, second year
Guiseppe duToit contributed to the overall score with a penalty kick, while
Macbryan Bos and Lucas Hammond each earned tries for Victoria.
 "The Capilanos are a strong team who played well defensively today, but the Vikes stood up to them and refused to give in," said
Rick Farrally, Vikes men's rugby assistant coach. He also acknowledged the physical efforts played by the Vikes front row.

Jeff Nishma-Miller performed up to 16 physical tackles throughout the match, contributing to the Vikes' relentless defence that was the difference in the game.
Prior to today's match up both teams were tied in the CDI Premier League standings with 14 points. The victory over the Capilanos puts the Vikes at second place in the overall team standings behind the UBC Thunderbirds.
Up next the Vikes will host Burnaby Lake RFC on Nov. 15 at 2.30 p.m. at UVic's Wallace Field. Victoria will also host the Barnard Cup final on Nov. 29 with the Vikes taking on the Castaway Wanderers. Kick off is set for 2.30 p.m. in the Centennial Stadium.
