Men's Rugby By Rachel Francois, Vikes Communications

PREVIEW: Vikes go up against Castaway looking for win number two on the season

Oct. 22: Vikes men’s rugby @ Castaway Wanderers (2:45 p.m. Victoria, B.C.)

Tale of the Weekend

The Vikes men's rugby team will take on the Castaway Wanderers for the second time this season in an away game this upcoming Saturday, October 22 at 2:45 pm. With the Vikes currently sitting in third place in the Vancouver Island Premier league they know that every win they can get is important.

Returning to the roster are top players Liam Chisholm and Oliver Nott who have been out due to injuries. The pair are expected to make an important impact in leading the team.

Last Time Out

The game against Westshore last weekend was cancelled due to weather, so the Vikes had the weekend off. Previously they had played Castaway where they fell 18-31. The team will be looking to improve their record of 1-2 as the season nears the mid-way point.

By the Numbers

3: The number of times that the Vikes will face Castaway this season.

2: Due to Thanksgiving and the weather the Vikes have had two weeks off in a row.

Coach's Take
Doug Tate, Vikes head coach.

"Our lineups are strong, so we'll see where that takes us on Saturday. It'll be a challenge for sure, the other teams in this league are good. Every win is important, you definitely have to take every game and put out your best performance each week. We can't rely on certain teams not doing well."

Player Perspective
Liam Chisholm, Lock

"I feel healthy, it's been a while so I'm looking forward to getting back into it. I've been training well and working with contact over the last few weeks so the physio said I'm good to go. I think the guys have been playing really good rugby, the losses could have gone our way so I think this upcoming game is absolutely winnable. I look forward to doing what I can to contribute." - Liam Chisholm, Lock
