VICTORIA – The UVic Vikes men's rugby team had all the pressure late but couldn't punch through a strong Capilanos defence in a 22-21 loss on Nov. 11.
Brennig Prevost handled the kicking duties on the day and was successful on three penalty goals as well as one conversion while
Spencer Cooper and
James O'Neill scored a try each in the loss.
Dealing with wet conditions the Vikes hung tough with the fifth-place team in the B.C. Premier League but weren't able to put the potential game-winning points on the board despite controlling the game late.
The loss drops the Vikes to 2-6 on the season as the young team continues to improve in a very tight B.C. Premier League. They not sit seventh overall with 14 points, six back of the sixth-place James Bay Bays.
A big weekend is ahead for the team as they get set for the Canadian University Championships, hosted in Guelph, ON. The Vikes are matched up with the host Gryphons to kick off the tournament on Nov. 17
