Tale of the Weekend
 
VICTORIA – The UVic Vikes men's rugby team will be hoping that the momentum they gained from a dominating run that saw them qualify for the National Championships will carry over when they return to BC Premier league action this weekend in a game against the Castaway Wanderers.
 
Hosting the Wanderers at Wallace Field on Nov. 4, the game that starts at 2:30 p.m. will see the Vikes take on a team that is not only a Victoria-based rival, but also one of the top teams in the league.
 
The Wanderers enter the weekend in a tie for second place in the BC Premier League, their record of 5-1-0 combined with five of a possible six bonus points has earned Castaway 25 points on the season.
 
The Vikes meanwhile, have struggled through the early part of their BC Premier League schedule. The team is currently 1-5-0 on the season and their nine points on the season has them in tenth place in the league.
 
The Wanderers were the victors when these teams last met on March 4 in the 2016-17 season. Castaway took the lead in the last five minutes of the game and then held on for the 25-20 victory
 
Last Time Out
 
The Vikes were absolutely dominant in a pair of games that they played last weekend. Defeating the Calgary Dinos and the UBC Okanagan Heat by a combined scored of 144-0 saw the Vikes qualify for the Canadian University National Championships that will be hosted in Guelph, ON from Nov. 16-19.
 
The Wanderers were handed their first defeat of the season last weekend as they fell 53-7 to the UBC T-Birds.

-51: Despite holding a record of 1-5, the Vikes have been close to adding to their victory total multiple times this season, their point differential is the 7th best in the league.
