Box Score KELOWNA — The University of Victoria Vikes suffered their first loss of the Canada West men's soccer season on Saturday afternoon in Kelowna.

The University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat matched their win total from last season after they brushed back the Vikes 3-2 at Nonis Field.

Isaac Koch took off on a mad dash up the field and ripped a shot off the right post. Continuing to work, Koch stole the ball back and fired another, only to be turned away by Heat keeper Nicholas Reitsma for one of his three saves in the first half. The Vikes (2-1-0) the pressure on and

Vikes fifth-year keeper
Jas Lally appeared to have another scoreless half underneath his belt, but Corbin Beauchemin ended his shutout streak at 234 minutes when a Spencer Young corner kick bounced through a crowd and landed at his feet in front of the net.

The action picked up in the second half and began when Beauchemin registered his second goal of the match after finding some open space in the Vikes' zone. Taking his time, he lined up his shot and buried one top corner past Lally.

The Heat's lead didn't last long, as less than one minute later, the West Kelowna product Koch timed his run right behind a Heat defender and tapped in his second goal of the season.Â

Unfortunately, corner kicks gave the Vikes fits all game. Young ripped another bouncer from the corner to the front of the goal crease and the Vikes couldn't coral it. The Heat's Jeevin Kang came up with it and jammed in his first of the season for the eventual winner in the 67
th minute.

Matteo Ventura made his season debut in the Vikes first road game of the season and helped lead a couple late rushes, but the Vikes couldn't draw even,
With the win, the Heat improve to 2-1-0.

Wrapping up this brief two-game road trip through the Interior, the Vikes take on the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (0-0-1) tomorrow afternoon (1 p.m.) at Hillside Stadium.
