LANGFORD, B.C. - The University of Victoria men's rugby team fought for the comeback, but ultimately fell to the Pacific Pride, 33-22, at Starlight Stadium in the curtain-raiser to the Canada-Chile World Rugby Qualifier, Oct. 2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A tough first half for the Vikes, UVic found itself down, 21-3, at the half.
- Not deterred, Victoria fought back in the second half to score 18 unanswered points and take the lead, 22-21, with just under 10 minutes to go.
- The Pride found a response, scoring the remaining points of the contest and coming away with the win, 33-22.
JERSEY AUCTION
- Both the Vikes and the Pride wore jerseys designed by west coast First Nation artists Trey Hunt and Tommy Hunt during the Saturday matchup.
- The 15 jerseys auctioned from the Vikes raised $2,962, all of which benefits Thunder Rugby, who support Indigenous rugby programs on Vancouver Island.
