Mitrovic top of class at Vikes annual honour roll celebration

VICTORIA – Each year, the University of Victoria recognizes the academic accomplishments of its varsity student-athletes at its annual Vikes Honour Roll Luncheon. Boasting a perfect 9.0 grade point average, men's soccer player Dusan Mitrovic took home the prestigious Provost Award for academic excellence, while an incredible 108 Vikes student-athletes were named to the honour roll.

The event recognizes student-athletes who achieve a minimum of a 6.6 GPA (80%) while training and competing at the highest level of sport. Thanks to the generous support of the University of Victoria, the 2021-22 group of recipients receive $500 to support their accomplishments. All student-athletes who compete on teams recognized by U SPORTS also received an Academic All-Canadian certificate.

The Provost Award, given out to the student with the highest overall GPA, receives a further $500 athletic financial award for a total of $1,000 in support and is honoured again at the end of the year at the Celebration of Champions banquet in April.

Provost Award Recipient

Dusan Mitrovic, fourth year, Faculty of Social Sciences

Men's soccer coach Larry Stefanek describes Mitrovic as a gifted individual with a great attitude.

"Dusan is obviously talented in the classroom, but he's just as skillful on the soccer pitch, always pushing to create opportunities for the team. He's got an excellent work ethic both on and off the field and he's just a tremendous player to have on the team. He is a super young lad."
