Vikes welcome Cascades and Spartans to open home slate

VICTORIA - The University of Victoria men's soccer team opens its 2022 home slate with games against the University of the Fraser Valley and Trinity Western University, Sept. 9-10, at Centennial Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY
Against the Cascades: The Vikes have an unbeaten 4-0-1 record against UFV in their last five regular season meetings.
  • The two sides last faced off in the Canada West Final Four semifinals, Nov. 6, 2021, when the Vikes pulled away with a 5-0 win in Calgary, Alta.
  • The last time the Vikes and Cascades met in Victoria was Aug. 25, 2019, which resulted in a 2-0 Vikes win.
Against the Spartans: Victoria is 3-2 in its last five matches against TWU.

  • Trinity Western sits at the top of the Canada West Pacific Division standings with a 3-0-1 mark in Canada West play this season, earning wins or draws against the same three opponents UVic has faced so far this season.
  • UFV comes into the weekend at 1-1, earning a win against UBCO and falling to Thompson Rivers to open their season. 
  • Nick Park and Sam McDonald lead the scoring efforts for UVic through four games, having each tallied one goal.
  • Javier Sagaste leads the Vikes with two assists, having been credited with the helper on each of the Vikes' goals this season. The two assists tie for second-most in the conference.
