Burnaby, B.C. – The University of Victoria men's rowing team collected two medals on the way to a third place finish at the 2023 Canadian University Rowing Championships, Nov. 11-12 on Burnaby Lake.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following up on a first-place finish during the time trials, Giancarlo DiPompeo captured the first medal of the championships for the Vikes with a 7:21.756 first-place finish in the lightweight 1x A Final.
- Improving one spot from their third-place time trials showing, the 8+ boat of Nicholas Murray-Coplen, Spencer Lewis, Quinn Storey, Connor Attridge, Kai Bartel, Michael Caryk, Victor Lefebvre, Aidan Carr, and Jesse Harold finished in second place with a time of 5:48.914.
- The Vikes finished no lower than fifth in each of the six A Finals, taking fourth in the lightweight 2x, 2-, and lightweight 4+ races and fifth in the 1x race.
