VICTORIA - The University of Victoria men's rugby team took down the Castaway Wanderers, 20-14, Nov. 29 at Centennial Stadium to close its fall slate of matches.

Vikes hold lead at the half
- The Vikes got on the board in the 12th minute, with Merlin M'Cloud blocking the Wanderers' kick and grounding it in-goal for the 5-0 Vikes lead.
- CW got on the board five minutes later, scoring both the try and convert to take a 7-5 lead.
- Awarded a penalty and opting to kick in the 31st minute, Matthew Bennett was successful on the penalty goal to put Victoria in front, 8-7, at halftime.
Doane, Bennett seal win for the Vikes
- Capitalizing on a 5-metre scrum in the 47th minute, Ryder Heaney-Corns got taken down right in front of the line, but Adam Doane was there to get the ball and fly over the line to get the ball down and give the Vikes the lead back, 13-7.
- Castaway scored a try and convert in the 53rd minute to go back ahead, 14-13, but the Vikes would get the final say in the 60th minute. Though the ball got knocked loose on the Vikes' push forward, Bennett was there to grab it on the run and get over the line for the try. Making his own convert, Bennett sealed the 20-14 win for the Vikes.
