Silvis, Ill. - The University of Victoria women's golf team finished 15th in the 30-team field at the 2024 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, May 13-17 at TPC Deere Run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cindy Koira led the way for the Vikes, tying for 57th individually at +36 overall and posting the lowest round score for the Vikes in round one (78), round four (81), and tying for the lowest round three mark (83), as well the second-lowest score for UVic in round two (82).
- Starting the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 80, Brynne Davies closed out with rounds of 90 and 82 to finish at +44 overall and in a tie for 68th individually.
- Dropping 10 strokes from round one to round two, Fiona McCombe shot 88 in the opening round and the Vikes' round two low score of 78 before posting consecutive 83's in rounds three and four to tie with Davies in 68th at +44 overall.
- Lana Rummel took 71st overall at +50 following rounds of 81, 84, 90, and 83 over the 72-hole tournament.
- Mya Rowan rounded out the Vikes' five, carding rounds of 80, 86, 91, and 89 for an overall +58 and 74th-place finish.
- As a team, the Vikes finished 15th overall at +166, posting a sizable improvement over their last team appearance at the NAIA championships, a 27th place showing in 2022.
UP NEXT
The Vikes men will compete at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships, May 21-24, before both the men's and women's teams head to the Canadian University/College Championships, June 2-6.
