Victoria, BC - The University of Victoria men's rugby team took down the Trinity Western Spartans 24-19, Oct.18 at Wallace Field.

Vikes applied consistent and relentless offensive pressure.
- In the 12th minute, Adam Doane streaked down the sideline and slip into the try zone for the first try of the match. Doane's try pushed the Vikes ahead 5-0 early in the match.
- In the 16th minute, Reece Thompson broke through with a pick-and-go to extend the Vikes' lead to 10-0.
- Thoran Koyote joined the score column as he danced through Spartans' defenders for the Vikes' third try of the game. Michael Oughtred completed the conversion for a 17-0 Vikes' lead.

Vikes kept the scoring going in the second half
- Reece Thompson broke off a long run, as the Spartans' defenders began to stop his momentum, he pithed the ball off to Jack Penaluna for his first try of the game. Michael Oughtred converted his second straight conversion to make it a 24-0 Vikes' lead.

Trinity Western fought back
- In the 54th minute, Trinity Western broke their scoreless drought as they touched the ball down in the try zone. The Spartans' score cut into the Vikes' 24-7 lead.
- Trinity Western remained on attack as they added another try in the 59th minute. With a good conversion, the Vikes' lead slimmed to 24-14.
- In the final minute, Trinity Western added a late try to bring the game to a close 24-19 for the Vikes.

With the win, the Vikes now move to 3-2 on the season. Their next game action will come against UBCOB Rugby Club, Oct. 25, at Wallace Field.
