Montreal, QC - The University of Victoria lost 27-12 to the University of British Columbia in the bronze medal game of the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships on Nov. 16.
 
Vikes started the scoring, and UBC answered.

• Alex Gamage got the scoring started early as he used his speed to burst down the sideline and over the try line. Gamage's fourth-minute score propelled the Vikes out to an early 5-0 lead.
• UBC answered the Vikes' score with one of their own. In the 13^th minute, the Thunderbirds broke the try line and brought the game to a 5-5 tie.
• UBC added another try in the 24^th minute as their offence found an opening and forced their way over the try line. UBC took a 12-5 lead with little time remaining in the first half.
• In extra time of the first half, UBC scored their third unanswered try. This score gave UBC a 17-5 halftime lead.

 
UBC's pressure remained in the second half

• UBC continued their offensive attack to start the second half. In the seventh minute, the Thunderbirds extended their lead to 22-5.
• The Thunderbirds scored a fifth try in the 19^th minute of the second half. This score brought UBC's lead to 27-5.
• Jack Marshall shook off tackles and got the Vikes back on the board as he scored his first try of the Championships in the 27^th minute of the second game. Alex Gamage added the conversion to cut UBC's lead to 27-12.

• Hunter Hanniford earned Player of the Game honours for his valiant efforts in the match.

 
The Vikes will return home to face Westshore RFC on Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
