Knight, Lines lead Vikes at NAIA Championships

Silvis, Ill. - The University of Victoria men's golf team finished 15th at the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championships, May 20-23 at TPC Deere Run. Due to inclement weather on the first day of the tournament, the championship was changed to a 54-hole event, down from the originally planned 72 holes.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Jagre Knight led the way for the Vikes in round two, posting a two-under 70 for the Vikes low score of the day, and marking the only under-par round of the championship for Victoria. 
  • Maguire Lines was close behind with an even 72 on the second day, bringing both Knight and Lines' scores to +1 overall to lead the Vikes through two rounds of play.

  • Posting collective scores of +11 and +10 in the first and second rounds, respectively, the Vikes secured their spot as one of the top 15 teams to advance to the third and final round of play.

  • Maguire Lines and Jagre Knight each finished with a +4 card after the final 18 holes of play, bringing their final tournament scores to +5 overall and ending in a tie for 21st individually to lead Victoria.
  • Owen Croft finished in a tie for 57th individually at +13 overall following rounds of 73, 76, and 80.
  • Tying for 69th individually, Daniel Kirby posted rounds of 78, 80, and 87 for a +19 overall result. 
  • Rounding out the Vikes' five was Myles Johnson, who finished 78th at +30 overall with rounds of 80, 84, and 82.
Vikes finish 15th as a team 
  • As a team, the Vikes recorded collective scores of +11, +10, and +21 through the three-round tournament to finish at +42 overall and in 15th place, improving from a tie for 25th place finish at the 2024 NAIA championship.
  • Victoria, ranked #50 as a team in the NAIA entering the tournament, finished higher than 11 teams ranked in the top 40 with their 15th-place showing.
