Vikes set to host the UNBC Timberwolves and the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack, Victoria, BC, at CARSA Performance Gym.
 
Last Week Recap:
  • The Vikes split the weekend series 1-1 with the Trinity Western Spartans.
  • In the first game, the University of Victoria women's basketball team emerged victorious over Trinity Western University in a 62-60 thriller.
  • Victoria began the game on fire, with the return of both Mimi Sigue and Abigail Becker making a difference on the glass.
  • The Vikes grabbed an early six-point lead as the first quarter ended 17-11.
  • The Spartans found their strokes in the second quarter, but the Vikes matched each score as the game hit halftime with the Vikes ahead by five.
  • Neither team flinched out of halftime as both squads continued to play tough, the Vikes fending off each Trinity Western scoring run.
  • The Spartans made their push in the fourth quarter, finally taking the lead with six seconds left to play.

  • The UNBC Timberwolves tend to be a favourable matchup for the Vikes. As a program, UVic is 18-1 against UNBC, 10-1 when games are played on the island.
  • Victoria versus Thompson Rivers is another matchup the Vikes excel in. The Vikes have won 20 of the last 21 matchups, including the last nine at home.

  • The first half did not go the way of the Vikes. The Spartans tested the defence and were able to find their way to the bucket.
  • The Vikes headed to the locker room down two points, a rare occurrence for the top seed in the Canada West Pacific Division
  • Victoria found their groove in the second half, dominating on both ends of the court, scoring 29 and 27 points in the third and fourth quarters.
  • The offensive dominance by the Vikes led to a quick lead that extended with each minute that passed.
