- The Spartans found their strokes in the second quarter, but the Vikes matched each score as the game hit halftime with the Vikes ahead by five.

- The UNBC Timberwolves tend to be a favourable matchup for the Vikes. As a program, UVic is 18-1 against UNBC, 10-1 when games are played on the island.

- The first half did not go the way of the Vikes. The Spartans tested the defence and were able to find their way to the bucket.
- The Vikes headed to the locker room down two points, a rare occurrence for the top seed in the Canada West Pacific Division
- Victoria found their groove in the second half, dominating on both ends of the court, scoring 29 and 27 points in the third and fourth quarters.
