The University of Victoria Vikes Varsity Council’s male Athlete of the Month is Vikes rugby player Fergus Hall.
Recently named as the BC Sports high school male athlete of the year, the Victoria native was instrumental in the Vikes’ 35-5 victory over the University of Western Ontario Mustangs in the National University Sevens Rugby Championship final, Mar. 2. With the win, the Vikes earned their second title in the three-year history of the competition, bringing UVic’s total number of championship titles to 72.
Since Hall’s breakout performance for the Vikes at the Las Vegas Sevens Invitational, and after scoring his first premier league try in a 43-24 victory against Bayside AA, the quick and versatile rookie has become a staple in the Vikes' line up and will certainly continue to be one to watch.
