Second-year Vike Cameron Stokes of the men's soccer team has been awarded the Original Joe's male athlete of the month award for September. Stokes continues to produce in Canada West competition this year. In the opening six games of the season, he is tied with Vike Cam Hundal with a team-high four goals. His recent two-goal performance in a 4-0 Vike victory saw him jump on a deflected shot from third-year midfielder Craig Gorman and then rifle it past the Trinity Western goalkeeper. He then chased a ball down to the oppositions 18-yard-box before putting on some fancy footwork and firing a low, rolling shot that also found the back of the net for his second goal of the match. Stokes' scoring touch have helped his team to a 4-2-0 record while placing him fifth in Canada West scoring through six games. Keep an eye out for number 11 as the men return to Centennial Stadium, Oct. 6 to face the University of Fraser Valley Cascades.
