Third-year midfielder Dominic Colantonio has been selected as October’s Male Athlete of the Month. The Victoria native scored twice against the defending CIS national Champions UBC Thunderbirds this October in a late and surprising 2-1 victory. The win guaranteed the Vikes Canada West quarter-final hosting rights in the opening round of the playoffs. Colantonio’s goals came against a strong T-Birds squad that boasted this year’s Canada West Player of the Year, Navid Maschinchi, and Rookie of the Year Chris Serban. Out of 12 games played overall, the Mt Douglas high school player earned the Vikes a total of 12 points. This is Colantonio’s final season on the Vikes Men’s soccer team.
