For the first time in her varsity career, fourth-year midfielder Kyla Kirby was named a CIS First Team All-Canadian. In 2010 Kirby earned Second Team All-Canadian status after being named a two-time CIS Championship All-Star in 2009 and 2010. 

Kirby has started and played in every regular season game and has been pivotal in controlling the Vikes’ back line while generating several outletting opportunities to spring the offence. Scoring twice during the season to help the Vikes to a second-place finish in Canada West, Kirby has also been a key contributor in both offensive and defensive penalty corner plays.  

“Kirby has been a real leader this season and has dedicated herself to making the Vikes better,” said Vikes women’s field hockey head coach Lynne Beecroft. “She wants to perform well and has really done her homework to help lead this team.” 

Kirby’s leadership both on and off the field has been instrumental in getting the Vikes to their 31st  CIS Championship appearance, Nov. 1-4 in Toronto, Ont.
