Jagre Knight leads Vikes to repeat Continental Conference Championship

Hobbs, NM – The University of Victoria men's golf team won the NAIA Continental Conference Championship for the second year in a row, April 27 – 29 at Rockwind Community Links GC. Jagre Knight played his best golf of the season as he led wire-to-wire for the individual title.
 
Jagre Knight led the way with his dominant play.
  • Jagre Knight led wire to wire as he posted a tournament best 74, 75, and 73. Knight played his best golf of the season as he burst out of the gate, firing a round of +2 to open the tournament. Knight this stellar start with a +3 in round two and an even better +1 in the final round. Knight became the second Vike to win the men's individual title in two years, as he led the way to the second consecutive team title.
 
Owen Croft grabbed a second-place finish behind Knight.
  • Owen Croft rallied late in the third round, carding two bridies in the last six holes, to move into a tie for second place as the tournament closed. Croft shot rounds of 74, 77, and 79, highlighted by one of only four eagles of the tournament.
 
Lines and Kurytnik excel with top-five finishes.
  • Maguire Lines opened with a 78, putting him in contention as day one ended. Line's second-round score of 74 put him in a great position to finish the tournament strongly. Lines closed the tournament with an 81, placing him fourth behind a Vikes-filled podium.
  • Sam Kurytnik found his groove after opening play with an 81. Kurytnik carded a pair of 77s to earn him a T-5 finish.
 
Solomon Decksheimer fired a tournament-best third round 69.
  • Solomon Decksheimer stunned the field as he played the best golf of his career in the third round of the Championship. Decksheimer opened with an 83 and 87 in rounds one and two before carding five birdies in the final round en route to a -3 final round.
 
The Vikes men's golf team will return to action for the NAIA National Championship on May 12-15 in Moline, Illinois.
