VICTORIA - The University of Victoria track teams head to the University of Regina for the 2025 Canada West Track & Field Championships, Feb. 21-22.

NEWS & NOTES
  • The Vikes will be competing across six events at the Canada West Championships, taking part in the 1000m, 3000m, and 4x800m on Friday, and the 600m, 1500m, and 4x400m Saturday.
  • Victoria added two new U SPORTS auto qualifying times at the Husky Classic, Feb. 14-15. Marisha Thompson and Tate O'Brien each logged their second auto qualifying times of the season, with Thompson getting the 1500m auto bid (4:21.72) and O'Brien locking the 1000m bid (2:21.59).
  • The Vikes have now had seven U SPORTS auto qualifying performances so far this season: Tate O'Brien (600m, 1:17.63 & 1000m, 2:21.59), Marisha Thompson (3000m, 9:20.38 & 1500m - 4:21.72), David Waller (1000m - 2:24.68), Women's 4x800m Relay (8:56.35), and Men's 4x800m Relay (7:32.85).
  • Though the Vikes only compete in distance events during the U SPORTS track & field season, the women's side is ranked 10th in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 poll.
  • The Vikes won three silver medals at the 2024 Canada West Championships, with Daniel Damian being the lone returner of the medal winners to the 2025 squad. Damian took silver in the 3000m with a time of 8:28.30. He is currently ranked 10th nationally in the event at 8:08.99.
