The University of Victoria Vikes women's basketball team won its third straight game with an 86-81 win over UBC Okanagan in Kelowna on Saturday night improve to 8-8 and keep their playoff hopes alive.

UVic moves into sole possession of third place in the Canada West at 8-8, ahead of Trinity Western (8-9) and Thompson Rivers (7-9) in the race for the third and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division. The fourth-place Pacific Division team also has an outside shot of qualifying for the post-season as a wildcard team but it will likely go to the fifth-place Prairie Division squad.

On Saturday night, the Vikes had 21 points from senior guard #Debbie Yeboah# of Winnipeg while #Natalie Janssens# of Surrey, B.C., came off the bench to net a season-high 17 points - averaging just over two points per game entering the contest.

UVic closes out the regular season with a home-and-home series against the UBC Thunderbirds Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at the War Memorial Gymnasium in Vancouver and Feb. 17 against the same Thunderbirds squad at Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at McKinnon Gymnasium.

The Vikes defence was strong once again, forcing 15 steals.

Roslyn Huber led the host Heat with 25 points after being held to just six points the night before.

UVic needs at least one win against the UBC Thunderbirds in the home-and-home series to earn a playoff spot with Trinity Western and Thompson Rivers also in contention for the third and final Pacific Division playoff spot.
