Originally from Calgary, Alta., and a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Kelly Boucher began her university basketball career at the University of Calgary before transferring to UVic in 1986 to play under legendary women’s basketball coach Kathy Shields.

During her four years with the Vikes, Boucher earned multiple accolades, including three Canada West First Team All-Star selections, one Canada West Second Team All-Star selection, and a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian nod. She helped lead the Vikes to three national championship appearances and still ranks among UVic's all-time leading rebounders with 520 and averaging seven rebounds per game.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Boucher went on to represent Canada on the international stage. A two-time Olympian, she competed at both the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. A long-time member of the Canadian senior women's national team, Boucher represented Canada at the 1994 FIBA World Championships and the 1999 Pan American Games, where Canada earned a silver medal.

Boucher enjoyed a long and successful professional basketball career playing for a decade in Europe, the Middle East, and in eight different countries. In 1998, she made history as the first Canadian to get drafted into the WNBA, suiting up for the Charlotte Sting.

In 2020, Boucher was named one of the Top 100 U SPORTS women's basketball players of the century.

To this day she remains one of the most prolific basketball players to have played at UVic, and her legacy will not be forgotten.
