Few field hockey players had the knack for scoring dramatic goals the way Rochelle Low did as member of the Vikettes squad from 1987-92. She was an extremely talented forward, scoring a series of sensational goals to propel the team to three national championships in 1987, 1989 and 1992.
Low's was an immediate force at UVic. In her first season as a Vikette Low was dubbed Canada West All-Star and CIAU All-Canadian and CIAUÂ Rookie of the Year. Besides her one-year break in 1991, Low was a Canada West All-Star and CIAU All-Canadian every competing year (1988,89,90,92). At the 1988 and 1989 CIAU championships, Low named CIAU Second Team All-Canadian and in 1990 and 1992 she was named CIAU First Team All-Canadian.
Â
In addition to her all-star status, Low was presented with the Outstanding Athlete of the Year award, CIAUÂ Player of the Year and the CIAUÂ Liz Hoffman award (Most Valuable Player) in her final season as a Vikette (1992).Â
