The 1970-71 men's rugby team won the Vikes first Rounsefell Cup in team history, their fourth consecutive Barnard Cup and the Pacific Northwest Intercollegiate conference title in the same season. Four of the team's players went on to represent Canada internationally.

• Won the Vikes first-ever Rounsefell Cup in 1971 by defeating the Vancouver Kats 6-3
• Won the Pacific Northwest Intercollegiate conference title with wins over Western Washington, Oregon State, University of Washington, Oregon, UBC, and also defeated UCLA
• Won their fourth consecutive Barnard Cup, defeating Oak Bay Wanderers 22-10
• Four players later represented Canada - Johnston, Wilke, Eckardt, Slater
• Johnson was later a coach for Canada
