One of the most decorated Vikes runners of all-time, Meagher helped the Vikes capture back-to-back Cross Country CIAU National Championships (1986, 1987). The native of Nova Scotia also had enormous success in track and field, being named to the Track and Field All-Canadian team three times (1986, '87, '89). In 1988, Meagher was a member of the Vikes 4x800 relay team that captured gold in a CIS record time of 8:41, a record that still lasts some 20 years later.
However, Meagher would save her best for her final year of University competition, winning gold in the 1990 Canada West cross-country final, and than topping that by capturing gold in both the Canada West and CIAU 1500m finals. For her efforts in 1990, Meagher received UVic’s most prestigious athletic award, the Presidents Cup.
On the International scene, Meagher represented Canada in numerous competitions, highlighted by the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Meagher also won one gold, six silver, and one bronze in a lifetime of competition at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, and also holds eight Nova Scotia provincial track records.
In 2013 the Antigonish Highland Society's Games Hall of Fame was created to mark the 150th anniversary of the first Highland Games held in 1863. Robyn was one of 16 individuals selected to be the first inductees.
